for technical toxaphene and for toxaphene congeners as compared to weathered toxaphene. Technical toxaphene can be definitively quantitated by NICI/MS while weathered toxaphene may only appear to be present based on the detection of ions found in toxaphene or the presence of known degradation products of toxaphene (e.g., Hx-Sed and Hp-Sed).

On analyzing 11 pure individual toxaphene congeners, it was noted that a nonachloro congener (2,2,5,5,8,8,9,10,10‐nonachlorobornane, Parlar's No. 62) failed to produce a reasonable [M–Cl] − response under our electron‐capture negative‐ion (ECNI) chemical ionization conditions.

On the other hand, this congener gave a stronger response than other nonachlorobornane congeners. A method for the determination of toxaphene residues in fish and fish-based baby foods has been developed.

The cleanup of the fatty matrices was performed using an acid treatment on an Extrelut-NT3 and ENVI-Florisil SPE cartridges system, using light petroleum as eluent.

Instrumental analysis was carried out by gaschromatography with mass spectrometry detector (GC/MS Cited by: 2. In order to determine the best conditions for the detection of each specific CHB, the analytical performance of both m / z approaches was assessed using a standard solution and purified Cited by: We have developed a novel method to measure toxaphene in environmental samples using ion trap MS/MS.

Foan and colleagues developed μTAS toward PAHs. The developed μTAS were successfully applied for the analysis of 16 PAHs in natural water samples Conclusions This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of environmental pollution.

Fish or Shellfish for Whole-Body Analysis- At some sites, States may deem it necessary to collect fish for whole-body analysis, if a specific human subpopulation typically consumes whole fish or shellfish. If whole fish or shellfish samples are to be analyzed, either wet ice, blue Ice, or dry ice is recommended.

N2 - An analytical method for detecting nitrosamines was demonstrated in various water matrices, finished drinking, surface, and treated wastewater effluent. The method uses automated solid-phase extraction (ASPE) followed by analysis with GC-MS/MS using positive chemical ionization (PCI), quantitation was performed using isotope by: In literature there can be found many applications of GC-MS for the analysis of drugs, PAHs, PCBs, and other pollutants in water and wastewater samples.

In Table 7, there are presented examples of determining the EDCs in environmental samples, mainly in samples of river, drinking, surface, and sewage by: 2. Endocrine disrupting chemicals, among them many pesticides, alter the normal functioning of the endocrine system of both wildlife and humans at very low concentration levels.

Therefore, the importance of method development for their analysis in food and the environment is increasing. This also covers contributions in the field of ultra-trace analysis of multicomponent mixtures of Cited by:.
